Frequently Asked Questions
Post-Digital Laboratory 2017
Question
Why "post-digital" ?
Answer
Working with digital technology does not mean simply using these technologies as tools. It means thinking about how and why you use these tools, how that impacts your thoughts and ideas, and everything you do outside the digital.

This thinking about how materiality affects work comes from the fields of (new) media arts.

The term post-digital is often used in contemporary discussions about our relationship to digital technology and the role that the digital plays in our contemporary culture.
Question
How are annual topics chosen?
Answer
Topics are chosen based on feedback from the artistic community in Bulgaria. In the summer of 2016, Rene Beekman published an online questionnaire in which about 100 artists from various backgrounds took part. They shared with us their interests and what they would like to learn.
Question
Can I propose a topic for next year?
Answer
Yes, of course! We'd love to hear from you! Send any comments or suggestions to Rene Beekman.
Question
How do I enroll?
Answer
Enrollment works on a strict first-come, first-serve basis. Your enrollment becomes definitive as soon as payment for the courses or workshops has been received.
You can enroll on our enrollment page.
Question
Do you have a selection process?
Answer
Nope. We do not believe that a selection process is any guarantee for quality or motivation on the part of the participant and we believe it often demotivates.

We believe that as an artist, your are your only motivation. As long as you are motivated, you will get something out of these courses and workshops and that will improve your work.
Question
Do I have to enroll for all workshops or can I choose?
Answer
You can enroll for as many or as few workshops or courses as you choose. You can pick and choose what matches your need, interests and existing skill-levels. You will enjoy price reductions if you enroll for more than one workshop or course.
Question
Can I join for one day of a workshop?
Answer
No. The workshops are designed to be followed beginning to end as each day builds on the previous.
